Really a coffeetable book with at least as many pages of photos as text. But the photos are of libraries. And books. And book lovers with their books. There were a few useful tips on caring for books but not as much as I had hoped. This large volume did ... All I can think of right now is a book: At Home with Books: How Booklovers Live with and Care for Their Libraries by Estelle Ellis. It has beautiful photos of impressive libraries. That might give you some ideas to begin with.
i recently bought a book at home with books by estelle ellis which shows various people's libraries and though they're very much a 'dream library' in a 'dream house' (ie one of their rooms is bigger than my tyneside flat!! :), there are some great pictures in it and some great ideas that ... ... A Passion for Books and both are excellent in there different ways. I also like coffee table type books about books like At Home With Books and Living With Books. I have A History of Reading by Alberto Manguel on my TBR pile and need to get to it sometime soon. I keep At Home with Books out so visitors will stumble upon it in my living room. Gorgeous. I wanted it forever, and found it a couple years ago on the last day of a library sale for under $10! I nearly lept onto the table to grab it. ... Rare by Lawrence Goldstone is a favourite, as well as 84, charing cross road by Helene Hanff. I love to look at At Home with Books but at that price I'll keep it on my wishlist and hope someone loves me come my birthday. ... I've always enjoyed dipping into Holbrook Jackson's immortal Anatomy of Bibliomania, and as a feast for the eyes, At Home With Books is also a browser's delight.
From a historical angle, Testaments of Time is, as the subtitle suggests, a fascinating book about the recovery of lost ... ... any number of things I hadn't thought about in years.

My favorite dream book on the subject is At Home With Books, but so many of those libraries, beautiful though they may be, are in "castles". I'd love to see "real people's" libraries! Thanks! I visited INFJ friends last weekend, "The Pod." And as it happened Powell's didn't have Estelle Ellis's glorious At Home with Books, so I spent about as much as I would have on it on five other books -most of them books about books! I forgot Lulu's autobiography, though.

At Home with Books by Estelle Ellis is on my list -I recall it quite fondly from my last bookstore job back in the day. One of its booklovers, surprisingly, is Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones!
