Clever - can be used with several different levels of learners. And of course it's Hoban's typically impressive photos. ( )

All About Where is a picture book, with prepositions on the outlying pages. The book is meant to be shared with children, as they can use the prepositions to describe relationships between objects in the picture. This book would be a great resource for early readers for language development. Tana Hoban is the writer of many concept books. There is an article about her and her writings here: http://bccb.lis.illinois.edu/0702true.html ( )

On the first and last page of the book, there is a list of prepositions like above, on, behind, and under. On each page there are photos of every day objects and activities. The purpose of the book is to make prepositional phrases with the words on the first and last page that relate to the pictures. This book would be appropriate to use with students struggling with understanding prepositions.

This book has only two pages of words which consist of prepositions. Then the pages in between are filled with colorful pictures to show the prepositions. Wonderful book to use when teaching prepositions.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0688096972, Hardcover)

The reader looks at the pictures, considers the possibilities about what is being seen . . . and then considers again! Yet, as in all of author-artist Hoban's books, there are no single answers, and no rights or wrongs. It is all up to the viewer--and it is fun!
