There's not much more to this than sex - lots of it and very hot, but that's all there is really. So that's what the stars are for. I guess the heroine, Countess Angela de Grae is kind of interesting in that she's an older woman famous for her numerous liaisons. She's even had an affair with the prince. Johnson apparently based her off of an historical figure, Daisy Warrick, a late Victorian socialite who, in addition to having many affairs, was involved in social and education reform. Johnson also provides footnotes to the text. Since I love footnotes, the stars are for those too. But, besides some cool history trivia (all you could ever want to know about the history of contraception, among other things), character and plot don’t go beyond two beautiful people with a lot of stamina.
