Questo ponderoso volume (858 pg, compreso le note per ogni capitolo e la ricca bibliografia) è senz’altro una delle migliori biografie del Che.
Scritta appassionatamente, con una ricchezza di testimonianze di amici e compagni di guerriglia, e di citazioni dagli scritti dello stesso Che durante il suo percorso di vita e di guerrigliero rivoluzionario.
Le sue idee, convinzioni, scelte, comportamenti anche i più banali come girare con gli anfibi allacciati a metà perché sempre di corsa, l’insonnia, le letture, le incazzature, l’asma, la scarsa pulizia personale, ma e soprattutto le idee e convinzioni politiche dettate da un’acuta coscienza sociale che lo portarono ad agire il cambiamento sempre in prima linea che fosse come guerrigliero o come membro del governo. Uomo senza mezze misure, abitato da un rigore intransigente che non ammetteva compromessi, tentennamenti o scusanti.
Ha veramente incarnato un certo ideale rivoluzionario assumendosi consapevolmente tutte le responsabilità che tale ruolo comportava sino alle sue estreme conseguenze. (
