En udmærket skildring af hvor fysikken var ca anno 1930. Kvanteteorien er Plancks opfindelse og er først lige ved at finde fodfæste. Sort hulrumsstråling bliver godt forklaret. Bølgemekanik a la Schrödinger og de Broigle ditto. Andrade er god til at understrege at fysikken ikke kan give svar på hvad elektricitet er, men derimod på hvad elektricitetens virkninger er.
Andrade var professor i fysik ved Londons universitet. ( )
