Loading... In the Small, Small Pondby Denise Fleming
This a story that tells of all the creatures that live in the small small pond. Some of the creatures are; tadpoles, gesse, dragonflies, turtles, herons, minnows, swallows, flies, frogs, crawfish, beaver, and a raccoon. Then winter comes and all the animals dissappear. And the small small pond goes to sleep This book is realistic fiction because it looks at a pond, which is not real, but has animals that would be typical for a pond. This book's setting is background, aside from being at a pond it does not specify where or at what time. This book was done with paints being applied with different textures. Denise Fleming illustrates and writes a book about a pond's inhabitants, and seasons changing all while using rhyming verbs. This book would be great for younger children. I think it could be used to teach rhyming, verbs, alliteration and pond life to younger kids. Its a very versatile book. Good for grades k-2. Glorious illustrations reveal the large number of creatures whose lives revolve around a small pond. Full review: http://www.twentybyjenny.com/47Books/... Allison (BookHive (www.bookhive.org)) Fleming's book is a wonderful introduction to the seasons and the way nature changes throughout the year. From the first "wiggle, jiggle" of the tadpoles to the "chill breeze" of winter, the delightful sounds made by the animals will have children and parents wanting to join in.
