This biography picture book summarized the life of Harvey Milk. It begins with his childhood, and moves on to explain how his charismatic attitude and determination helped his achieve his goal of obtaining civil rights for the gay community. It takes the reader through his struggle as a gay and his accomplishments after opening up about his sexual orientation.

This book is a great way to introduce gay right activists. This biography helps readers understand the struggles of people who receive less representation. This book gives good factual information that students can use to develop a good understanding of the gay community. This would be a good introduction to civil rights groups.
