When plus size 400 year old vampire Glory St. Clair and Valdez, her bodyguard dog come home to find a woman, (Lucky Carver) in the ally behind her shop with her throat ripped out and breathing her last breath, Glory realizes she will have to save Lucky herself by doing something she had never wanted to do, turning her into a vampire.

Unfortunately Lucky is not the best candidate to be made vampire, she is an enforcer for her families loan shark business, that specialize in making loans to paranormals, which is how Lucky came to be in the ally in the first place. Now Glory must find out who tried to kill Lucky, stop a blackmailer that videoed Glory turning her into a vampire and try to guide the woman onto the right path, which is no easy task, Lucky’s goal is to experience vampire sex, and slide her fangs into the nearest human.

This book was a light and entertaining read, just right for relaxing. There were a few holes in the story but hopefully they will be wrapped up in later books. As it was the third book in the series by Gerry Bartlett I will be getting the first two to catch myself up on the life and times of Glory St. Clair. ( )

The third book in the series about a woman who is turned into a vampire while she is bloated and retaining water, so she will spend eternity as a plus-sized vampire. Nothing really in-depth or earth shattering going on here. Pretty mindless fluff, in some parts the story line has some holes, but it's strictly for entertainment, nothing more. ( )

Glory St. Clair finds a woman dying in the alley behind her store. To save her Glory turns her into a vampire. Little does she know the can of worms she is opening. The woman, Lucky, is part of a mob family and crazy as a loon. On top of that, someone video'd her "saving" Lucky and is threatening to out Glory on YouTube. But never fear, Glory and her band of paranormal friends manage to handle all their problems while remaining stylish right down to their designer purses.

I love this series. The story is always fun. The writing is very good and and well, believable, considering it is paranormal, chick lit romance. Guilty pleasure. ( )

Another great read from Gerry Bartlett. I love Glory, and I can't wait until January when the next book comes out. I didn't read the sneak peak chapter- I don't want to make the wait any longer! ( )

Gerry Bartlett's Real Vampires Get Lucky is the third in a series about 400-year-old vampire Gloriana St. Clair, who runs a vintage clothing shop with the help of several other paranormals. Just when Glory's getting a hold of her life in Austin, Texas, she comes home to find a dying woman in the alley behind her shop. Glory, who'd always sworn she'd never make another vampire, decided to do whatever it took to save the woman's life.

Unfortunately, the woman in question is Lucky Carver, or Luciana Carvarelli, the daughter of a notorious loan shark who loans money to paranormals. Several people among Glory's extended network of friends and allies could be suspects in her near-death. Lucky herself might not have been the best choice of convert to the vampire lifestyle. And worse, someone videotaped Glory turning Lucky and is trying to blackmail her.

I enjoyed Ms. Bartlett's Real Vampires Get Lucky. Her heroine, Glory, has commitment issues, big hips, and an attitude---for a vampire, she's a heroine many readers will relate to easily. While I have not read the first two books in the series, and this did make it quite difficult to keep up with the plethora of names that came and went, other than that one thing I found it easy to keep up and figure out what was going on.

I really enjoyed the melange of personalities, and only had one real objection: for the love of all that's holy, would authors PLEASE lay off the name-brand shoes and purses? Now and then as a character element, sure, but for heaven's sake, you'd think women as a gender don't talk about anything else but expensive clothes and accessories.

The plot, too, is fun. There are multiple mysteries to solve (who 'killed' Lucky? Who's blackmailing Glory? Will Glory finally settle down with Jerry?), and while it isn't the most mind-blowingly tight mystery I've ever seen, for this kind of book it's pretty darn good.

There's a will-she-or-won't-she romance that doesn't seem contrived and ridiculous, and a second attraction for Glory that's fun to watch play out (it comes with a second, rather unexpected plot that I don't want to spoil for you). The bedroom scenes between Jerry and Glory are fun and sexy, explicit and a bit wild without going crazy.

It's a great, light-hearted, enjoyable read for paranormal romance fans.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0425221547, Paperback)

Third in “a sizzling new series”( Kimberly Raye, USA Today bestselling author of Dead End Dating) featuring “a vampire who even Buffy could love” (Romance Review).

When a female loan shark named Lucky is attacked and left for dead, vampire Glory St. Clair turns her into one of the undead to save her––but eternity would have been safer without her. Vamps prefer a low profile, and that’s not Lucky’s style. She prefers to flaunt her sexy rock-star ex-boyfriend and great shoes. Trouble is, her flamboyant behavior is not only drawing every vampire hunter within miles— it’s bringing her would-be killer out of hiding, too.
