An uneven collection. Early on it brought to mind an Americanized Arsine Lupin, but the comparison didn't hold. Too many of the stories were abruptly ended or merely uninteresting. More valuable as a window into a forgotten age than as literature. ( )

The great bookseller A.S.W. Rosenbach's short stories of biblio-chicanery, ranging from theft to long cons to forgery to murder. Not great, by any means, but Rosenbach knew his books and the stories certainly reflect that knowledge. ( )

This book is an anthology of short stories relating to the bibliophilic life. But I didn't find them engaging. I'm not taken with it and you, gentle reader, shouldn't bother.
it was originally published in 1917, and the author was an American Bibliomane of note. ( )
