Book #6 The gun seller - Hugh Laurie
So far so good, I'm about halfway through... 9. Just finished: The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. (***)
*Edited to add rating. I hope to finish The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie today or tomorrow. It started off pretty slow, but somewhere around page 160 I realized that I had at some point fallen in love with it. Laurie's love of language is obvious and often hilarious. I'll then start The War for the Oaks by Emma ... ... off from their financial resources, and suddenly became aware that the government was turning against them. I just started The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. While I loved The Handmaid's Tale, I needed to follow it up with something lighter and more comedic. The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. I've had a hardback copy of it since about 1996.
He's never followed it up - something about being distracted by an offer to play a cranky limping doctor in a TV show in America, apparently. Technology is wonderful! I hope you enjoy The Gun Seller. I will definitely read his next book. I've only just found your thread, so I'm going to go back a bit and refer to Book 7 - The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. I'm also a huge fan of his, back from his days on "Blackadder" and "A Little Bit of Fry and Laurie", but I haven't read this book yet. However, I do have it as a PDF file on my ... Finished another one...

- TT Msg #31, Georgia Dawn, I take it from your comment that you didn't like The Gun Seller? I read it a couple of years ago and, while the story was a bit forced, I really enjoyed Laurie's voice in his writing. The sarcastic tone was fun to read, even if the story was kinda outlandish.
Msg #43, B ... cal - I made the mistake of picking up The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie so it's part of the swap now. Why do we do this to ourselves??
drneutron - I've looked at the "no spoilers" thread and I'm trying to stay away from the other one. 2. The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

Please see my second post for a list of the 46 books I read this year. Oh, what about The Gun Seller - it is a wry comedy version of an international action flick (there are drug dealers, attempted contract killings, dastardly government officials, etc). For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway

The Iliad by Homer
Jumpers by Tom Stoppard 38. The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. Enjoyed it, but had trouble keeping the characters straight. A little assist on that from the author would have helped a great deal.

I first became acquainted with Laurie through his titular role on the medical drama House MD. I found out he had written a novel, and though detective/spy fiction isn't usually my thing I just had to read it. It has all the action, twists, and hairy ... #5- The Gun Seller is our book club pick for March. I haven't picked up yet, but I need to. I love YA novels, but was really put off by its premise. I'm not much for spy novels, movies, etc. Glad to hear a positive review! And what's with the touchstones?!!!
}:o| #34 ellevee The Gun Seller is one of my all-time favourites!! And you're not crazy, I tend to hear Thomas Lang's dialogue in Hugh Laurie's voice. :) I wish they'd make a movie of it starring him!
(Edited because it's 12:30 in the morning and apparently I can't write a coherent sentence!) The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie (yes, Dr. House).
It's one of the funniest, cleverest books I've read in ages. I love it. And it honestly has nothing to do with my love for the author - although I will admit I keep hearing it in my head as his voice. Because I'm crazy.
Finished Stiff ... ... like, 'I'm gonna fall, and I am NOT gonna try and soften the blow.'
