Just finished Scalzi's Zoe's Tale. I don't think it was pushed as YA scifi, but it certainly has all the attributes imesho. Also, finally got around to reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. Rather amazing artwork. ============= Sorry for the duplicate post ...

I read Scalzi's Zoe's Tale. It's categorized as Scifi, but really there's not much 'sci'. Fun read though.

Finished Zoe's Tale, moved on to The Android's Dream and finished it. Now I'm working on The Gathering Storm. I liked the sarcastic, dry wit from Zoe's Tale that was missing from The Last Colony. The Android's Dream was a lot of fun to read (although my significant other was less ...

Earlier this week I finished Zoe's Tale (B). Between moving and vacation I'm behind; it's easier for me to pick and put down non-fiction. For this coming month I have a small stack of Michael Moorcock novels that a friend lent me to read.

Just finished: Zoe's Tale: Scalzi’s worst-an insipid rehash of The Last Colony told from the point of view of yet another unbelievable female teen; Perdido Street Station: been avoiding it for a while now, but I was pleasantly surprised-baroque as hell but just as inventive, tragic as all ...

... has caught up with the book in places. Beggars in Spain so far feels a bit like another book I recently read, Scalzi's Zoe's Tale - in style and tone, they are both fast-paced easy reads with a focus on the characters. EDIT - I just reread my last sentance and have to laugh - ANYTHING ...

#30: rosje: Just started The Last Colony after reading the first two. Good to hear your positive reaction. Zoe's Tale apparently is the next one.

Finished Neuromancer (sadly unimpressed), sweeping through Zoe's Tale (40 pages in and I'm enjoying it immensely) before I start on Beggars in Spain for the group read. I think Scalzi is maybe a little bit like candy.

... I enjoyed the first two, Old Man's War and The Ghost Brigades, and have been reading good things on LT about the 4th, Zoe's Tale.

... Ghost Brigades and The Last Colony for the first time (both really great!), although I'm still waiting for my copy of Zoe's Tale to come in. Now I've just started Neuromancer, since my Beggars in Spain hasn't shown up yet for the group read (I requested both of them when they were ...

Recently finished Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi, fitting conclusion to the Old Man's War series. Now reading Eyes of the Calculor by Sean McMullen, and being blown away again by his inventiveness and world-building. Methinks the Greatwinter trilogy isn't as well known as it ...

#30: ZOE'S TALE by John Scalzi Unlike the other Old Man's War novels, this is not a standalone -- you need to have read The Ghost Brigades and The Last Colony at least. This is Zoe Boutin-Perry's perspective on the events in those two books. A good tie-in with The Last Colony, a ...

59/60 Zoe's Tale is totally fine as a standalone. John Scalzi wrote it with that intention and I think he succeeded, as I hadn't read any of his other work when I read Zoe's Tale.

#59 thekoolaidmom: I don't know if Zoe's War is OK as a standalone. I haven't read it yet. The books in the series are: The Old Man's War The Ghost Brigades The Last Colony Zoe's War The previous 3 are all out in mmpb for about $7-$8 each.

#58 FicusFan: I still have Zoe's War on my ARC pile (bad me, I know), but I never new it was part of a series of books, especially a fourth book. Not sure I want to read it now, since I haven't read the others. Is it good as a stand alone?

I'm currently reading Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi and so far it's looking young adult suitable, maybe even aimed at the YA market. Another book I read that I think would be fun for a young adult who's not afraid of a little quantum physics talk, would be Thrice Upon a Time by James P. Hogan. ...

I'm belatedly reading Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi, which I got as an ER book. I would have read it sooner, but class reading really bogged me done for a bit. I'm not big on teen tales, but so far this one is ok. I didn't read Old Man's War which I understand is another tale about the same ...

There were a number of interesting books for August, but I'm pleased to have been allocated Zoe's Tale. It turns out that John Scalzi is the writer guest of honor at this years LOSCON 35 in November (my local Los Angeles annual SF convention). Perfect timing!

Yesterday I met my friend at the bookstore (again) and bought... Enchantment Place ed by Denise Little and Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi

I read Zoe's Tale, John Scalzi's new book, start to finish yesterday (I couldn't put it down!). Today I'm reading the other book I bought yesterday - Enchantment Place, an anthology of stories about a mall in Chicago where vampires and werethings and magical folk shop. Hilarious! Both of ...

Okay, I LOVED John Scalzi's Zoe's Tale, and I don't even like Science Fiction. My review isn't going up until Wednesday, but I thought it was fantastic. I may actually have to read more of his stuff (I added a bunch to my bookmooch wishlist). I also enjoyed Eric Van Lustbader's Fir ...

I'm about 1/3 of the way through Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would (science fiction isn't one of my favorite genres). I'm hoping I can finish it (or nearly finish) it today.

I received the ARC of Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi today. I've read about half of it so far, and it is as entertaining, light and fun as his previous novels.

I finished Zoe's Tale and really enjoyed it. I don't like very much SF, but the author captured a teenage girl's voice quite well (having a teenage girl in the house to compare to). Now if I could only figure out why it got sent to me! I don't remember asking for it from any source. The Fa ...
