As an innocent child of 11 I was perverted by my grandmother's volumes of Reader's Digest Condensed books. Mrs 'Arris Goes to Paris was among them. I remember enjoying it.

63. Mrs 'Arris Goes To Paris by Paul Gallico, a sweet and charming fable along the lines of Miss Pettigrew, in which the world is full of simple and upright people and virtue is rewarded. Recommended for: an afternoon lying on the sofa.

#99. I'll have to put Mrs 'Arris goes to Paris on my short list of TBR books. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that found Disquiet a little bit disturbing. It was just, I don't know, a bit of an odd novella. Hard to put into words.

I just read Mrs 'Arris goes to Paris by Paul Gallico, it's a nice easy read and on the 1001 books list. I found it to be in a similar lighthearted vein to Miss Pettigrew lives for a day. #81 I felt the same when I read Disquiet - a quick read that didn't sit well.

#107 - Mrs. 'Arris Goes To Paris by Paul Gallico, 157 pages (library). Saw this mentioned on klobrien2's thread. It sounded so cute that I grabbed it from my library! Wound up being sweet, funny and sad. #108 - Girls In Trucks by Katie Crouch, 241 pages (library). This is a very ...

My mother had seen the movie Mrs Harris goes to Paris and mentioned it at a bookfair a couple of years ago when I found a copy of Mrs Harris goes to New York. I have been looking for the first book ever since and finally found one at the same bookfair this year.

... as good as any Hammett novel gets, which is great. Currently reading Mrs. Pettigrew Lives for a Day which reminds me of Mrs. 'Arris goes to Paris: simple and cutesy, better for women than men. Also, Kim, which is a great adventure story, tinged with Eastern philosophy. And, yes, ...

I just saw Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris on the sale shelf at the library yesterday! I like Paul Gallico, but wasn't especially fond of Mrs. 'Arris. I've read a lot of the others though -- used to read Lady Chatterly in high school for the racy bits. I expect it would seem pretty tame now!
