Darker and more tense than the previous films in the series, this is rightly (in my view) rated 12 rather than PG. Inevitably a lot has been cut from the longest book in the series, but I thought it was done very well.

The main storylines are covered and the acting is excellent. Perhaps not surprising from the mostly well-known adult actors, but the starring trio - Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson - are still teenagers, but entirely believable in their roles.

Starting with this one the deaths become personal. It was sad when Cedric was killed. I cried when his father runs to his body. When Sirius is killed a part of Harry's life ends with him. Sirius is the last "family" he has. This is a tragic death for him. ( )

After a lonely summer on Privet Drive, Harry returns to a Hogwarts full of ill-fortune. Few of students and parents believe him or Dumbledore that Voldemort is really back. The ministry had decided to step in by appointing a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher that proves to be the nastiest person Harry has ever encountered. Harry also can't help stealing glances with the beautiful Cho Chang. To top it off are dreams that Harry can't explain, and a mystery behind something Voldemort is searching for. With these many things Harry begins one of his toughest years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Written by HPfan ( )

An ultra-conservative government overseer takes over a magical boarding school.

I loved this one when I first saw it (maybe because part four had my expectations so low), but like it less every time I see it. The villain is crappy, and there's lots of corny dialog. But this is also where the series finally stops holding back with the scope of the story, which is pretty exciting.
