Gregory is a shy groundhog, and having his friend Shadow close by makes him feel brave. But one day Gregory and Shadow go outside to look for food, and they get separated. Scared and lonely, they search and search for one another. To make matters worse, tomorrow is Groundhog Day, and everyone will be waiting to see if Gregory and his shadow leave their home together. Will the two friends find each other in time for Groundhog Day? Gregory is a groundhog and his best friend is his shadow. They go out wondering one day and get separated because Gregory got scared. He was so scared he ran home as fast as he could and slammed his front door shut. So shadow was locked out. Shadow had no idea what to do. He asked scarecrow and tree, but they did not know what he should do either. So, he his in a barn to keep warm. Later Gregory went o find him and he did indeed find him. Personal Reaction: I liked the way this book was written a lot. It was a great way to explain ti kids what groundhogs bdays is. It also could give them a chance to see who their "shadow" is. Extensions: 1. Use this on groundhog day! 2. make our own shadows outside with chalk. (read book outside) A cute and childish twist on Groundhog's day is presented in this book. Gregory, "loses" his shadow and finds it at the end. but it "hides" behind Gregory so he can't be seen, meaning winter is over. This book not only teaches about groundhog's day, but it also teaches about being brave and being independent. and confiding in someone. no reviews | add a review

It’s a nice Groundhog Day book which covers consequences of fear, facing fears, and if your family avoid this, mentions a ghost. It’s not a ghost it’s the groundhogs shadow.
Interesting to read and consider endings and beginnings, fears and overcoming.
Spring always comes. ( )
