"Winifred Elze is becoming our premier novelist of natural horror. Her The Changeling Garden told of a botanical world run amok. Now the animals have their say in Here, Kitty, Kitty." "It is the story of Emma Vernon, a young woman who lives across the lake from the Adirondack Forest Preserve with her husband, Max, and their pet cat, Billie." "Animals belonging to species thought to have become extinct centuries ago - woolly mammoths, sabertooth tigers, giant deer - suddenly appear along the shore. Bewildered and extremely dangerous, the oversize beasts invade the town, frightening its residents. Together, Billie and Emma gain an understanding of the creatures' relationship with the more primitive humans of their original era, ultimately providing a valuable lesson about the preservation of twentieth-century wildlife."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. I really enjoyed this book, because it featured a cat, prehistoric animals, and a mystery. I like that the author intersperses the story with the cat's point of view. I couldn't help but worry about her, though. ( )
