The first parts are Acheron's backstory so that we learn why he is the way he is and how he got entangled with Artemis in the first place. Then we get his contempory romance with a 21st century woman. Not quite what I expected but it kept me turning pages. Warning - this is as long as 2 books! hailelib | Jul 2, 2009 |   I loved every bit of this book. I think its the best Dark-Hunter book in a good long while. It's now one of my favorites. The first part of the book consists of Ash's past. Even though readers know that he didn'thave the greatest past. It was still very hard to read it. It was so heartbreaking. Feels like your reading about a different person then the one we've met in past books. I didn't like his heroine to begin with, but now think she's perfect for Ash. All around a great book. I couldn't put it down once I started it. It's everything the fans were hoping for. (  )vampiregirl76 | Jun 21, 2009 | Beautifully writtien in the unique way of Sherrilyn Kenyon, it details at first the tragic and heartbreaking tale of Acheron's life from the time he was born to his 21st birthday, revealing all of the mysterious details that the followers of the Dark-Hunter's series have been waiting for since we forst met Acheron, then continuing with the happy occasion we have been hoping to happen to our dear Ash for so long. Beautifully written with tender heart-wrenching details that could only come from personal experience, this book is a must read over and over again! He was my favorite sub character in all of them. His story made me cry and cheer at the same time for everything he had to overcome. His story explained so much of the series. One of the best books written. This is a keeper and will read it again! renekathryn | May 28, 2009 | Finally we learn all we wanted to know about Acheron. This book was fantastic. Acheron has always been a mystery in all the former books and we never really knew what he was or what kind of powers he really possessed. In this edtion we find out about his horrible abuse as a child, who his real father and mother are and why he so private about himself. We also get to see him break away from Artemis and find true love, something that he thought he was incapable of having. The story was a tear jerker in some parts, made me angry at what was happening to him in other parts, and just plan joyful on how things started to turn toward the good for him.
