The first is that you cant lose weight and keep it off. Its actually much easier to do this than it used to be decades ago because there have been more studies and experiments about the science of losing weight. (The failure rate for losing weight and keeping it off used to be around 95% in the 50s!) There are many more programs these days that can help practically ANYONE lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. The major program the book goes over is Weight Watchers, which is one of the flexible programs many people have success with for years. There are other myths that people should be aware of that may be stopping them from losing weight, like You can lose weight with exercise alone. Many people overestimate how much exercise they are doing and how many calories it burns. Unless you change your diet, its extremely difficult, almost impossible to lose weight with increasing exercise alone. Another myth is that willpower is the key to weight loss. The truth is that willpower is just one part of the weight-loss equation and its role is often overrated. Having the wrong metabolism and genes is another big myth. The truth is that with the right knowledge, support, among other things, like 99% of us can lose weight and keep it off no matter what our genes are like. There are other myths like There is only one right approach to losing weight, Your weight is your problem, and you need to solve it on your own, You can boost your metabolism by what, how, and when you eat, A few extra pounds dont matter, and Calories Dont Matter, avoid fats or carbs to lose weight successfully I wont go into detail about these, but overall the book is packed with information and its very interesting, educational and inspiring for people who are struggling with their weight. If you dont want to spend bucks on it, I recommend getting it from your library!! Another book you may want to check out is Thin For Life by Anne M. Fletcher. ( )Interesting, quick read with some good facts and strategies. A reader need not be interested in the Weight Watchers program to benefit from this book. no reviews | add a review
