I think Susan Beth Pfeffer intends to just rip my heart out...and not even tie up any loose ends to make me feel better.
And I think I like that. ... media specialist at our school, she says it is absolutely hilarious and a quick, easy read.
Also listening to The Dead and the Gone on CD in my car, because Life as We Knew It was one of my favorite reads last year. That one really stays with you, and I hear the the companion ... 176. This YA novel is written about the same catastrophe as Life as We Knew It but takes place in NYC. The story revolves around a teenage boy who is trying to take care of his younger sisters. I did enjoy this book but not as much as ... No, I have not read Dead and Gone yet. I will look for it - I am not sure if my local library has it or not.
As far as young adult books go, there are a lot of people here in the group who read them. We also have a thread entitled 'What I Am Reading - Young Adult' that you might go through. ... ... lot of time in developing the plot in this book.

9. I didn't realise that there was a second book. Will be tracking down The Dead and the Gone when I get a chance. Thanks. I've also recently read this one and I have the next book The dead and the gone which is about a different family, but didn't feel like jumping straight into it. I've just finished The Carbon Diaries 2015 which has more humour in it even though the weather gets pretty grim.

I love this series. It's sad is so many ways, but I like the way Pfeffer dealt with a worldwide tragedy. Take a look at Life as We Knew It and The Dead and Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer. They are parallel novels and both very good. Life as We Knew It needs to be read first; it has more explanation in it than the other book.

But basically, an asteroid hits the moon, which causes tidal flooding, power cuts and general collapse of infrastructure. Have you read Life as We Knew It? I think The Dead and the Gone is about the same disaster, told from the perspective of someone in New York City. There is a sequel, too. It's called The Dead and the Gone. #110 - Did you know there is a new sequel to Life As We Knew It? I just got it for our school library. It's called The Dead and the Gone. The Dead and the Gone!!
