Generally I am not a fan of bad reviews. There is always something to be found in the work of any author. That is true here, the mythos could be interesting when further developed. What I will not move past or overlook are the aggravating and unnecessary plot holes, the illogical behavior of the main character and the fact that she is a sub par cop and a general disgrace to most every category she is supposed to represent. "May 05, 2009: To sum: In general characters are themselves, but all main characters posses some redeeming virtue that allows readers to love them. That is not true in this book. The main character is unpleasant to be around in most every situation with very little rationalization or reasoning to support her behavior. The main love interest is a glorified pimp and drug dealer. Luna doesn't even manage to be a decent member of the force. Other than illogical character actions and a bizarre number of plot holes, there is nothing here worth discovering. Fans of fantasy/urban paranormal/supernatural mysteries or even a nice romance would be much better served by authors like Kelley Armstrong, Lilith Saintcrow, Ilona Andrews, Kim Harrison, early LKH, and Patricia Briggs. Pick something else." ( )

The ideas and images that fuel Night Life make for an enjoyable read. Kittredge's writing style for the most part is pretty smooth, but there are inconsistencies here and there within the novel. Despite that, I can see how with more practice and time, Kittredge's way of writing will become much better. I am curious to read her next novel so that I can see how she grows and develops as a writer.

If you are very picky about the books you read, this novel will probably horrify you, but if you like to read just to see and hear other peoples ideas and don't mind if they are not perfect, pick up the book. The story was good, and the ideas worked, it just seems to get swallowed up. ( )

This was a pretty good book. I didn't get to write this review right after i read it because i finished it on the way to a long vacation. There was really nothing that stands out from it in my memory, but i do remember thinking it was ok. ( )

This one started out a little slow for me. It took me a little bitt to get into her style of writting, but after I got into it and caught on to her style of writting. I got very involved in Luna, Sunny and Dmitri and the rest of the characters. It is like a mix of a murder mystery and action packed supernatural romance. I am intrigued to find out what happens next in Nocture city. I enjoyed this with all the action, and hope that the next one is even more exciting. ( )

It's ok, but I couldn't really get into the character, so I didn't finish it. ( )

The first book in a thrilling, addictive new series by a talented new voice in dark fantasy. Welcome to Nocturne City, where werewolves, black magicians, and witches prowl the streets at night…

Among them is Luna Wilder, a tough-as-nails police officer whose job is to keep the peace. As an Insoli werewolf, Luna travels without a pack and must rely on instinct alone. And she’s just been assigned to find the ruthless killer behind a string of ritualistic murders—a killer with ties to an escaped demon found only in legend…until now.

But when she investigates prime suspect Dmitri Sandovsky, she can’t resist his wolfish charms. Pack leader of a dangerous clan of Redbacks, Dimitri sends her animal instincts into overdrive and threatens her fiercely-guarded independence. But Luna and Dimiri will need to rely on each other as they’re plunged into an ancient demon underworld and pitted against an expert black magician with the power to enslave them for eternity…
