Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world's most powerful elite organizations - the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. But even Paige's wildest antics can't hold a candle to those of her new charge - an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil...and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder - and frame Paige for the crime. It's an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive.

REVIEW: Dime Store Magic is the story of Paige Winterbourne, a twenty-something witch who has recently become coven leader after the death of her mother. When a custody battle begins over the young witch she is looking after, she joins with the lawyer and sorcerer Lucas Cortez to fight to keep Savannah where she belongs.

This is the third book of my reread, and one of my favorites! I love Paige and Lucas and I love looking into the different mythologies of Armstrong’s world more closely. This book is exciting and fast paced, and I really enjoyed reading it. While I like Paige and Lucas, I have to admit that Savannah gets on my nerves more than once, as she seems to be responsible for the great majority of their troubles. Yes, yes, I know she’s a kid, but I don’t have much patience for kids in the real world, either. Thankfully, I know enough to know that she gets better in later books so I can tolerate her well enough.

This is a good book and a good sequel to Stolen and I look forward to re-reading the next one! ( )

A really good read. ( )

Your enjoyment of this book will depend almost entirely on your tolerance for teenage tantrums. Because the vast majority of this book is an actual teenager and her guardian (who is old enough to know better) throwing teenage attitude and knowing it all better than everyone else. I actually think this book would have been a four-star at about 100 pages less, but unfortunately the beginning just drags on and on and on, knocking it down a star. That said, I prefer Paige as a main character over Elena, the main POV of the first two books, so there's that. ( )
