The weakest book of a great series. Worm Ouroboros and
Mistress of Mistresses are two of the greatest fantasies I've ever read; this is interesting because of its links as a prequel with Mistress, but it is episodic and mixed with some mildlty unpleasant scenes in our world. (A racist encounter with a black boxer), The episode between Baias and Fiorinda did inspire my sonnet "Baias in Krestenaya." ( )
