Finished reading Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris last night.
St. Oswald's Grammar School for Boys has stood for generations. Boys and teachers have come and gone. There have been a few scandals, but the school has survived. Now the school is under attack from the inside. Things have ... I've just finished Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris, who has been one of my favourite authors. (She still is, but there are some of her books that don't appeal.) I'm finding that her voice remains much the same, despite distributing the points of view among more than one character, as ... ... Harris a lot. One reason I like her so much is that all her books are so different from each other. I just listened to Gentlemen and Players and it was terrific. I read Gentlemen and Players last year and really enjoyed it. I think it's one of Joanne Harris' best and I'm glad you liked it. I'm eager to read Shanghai Girls because I enjoyed Lisa See's other books and I love Amy Tan. Thanks for the recommendation! I'm listening to Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris. I always like her work; she has such diverse characters. And the reader is very good. #116 - Gentlemen And Players by Joanne Harris, audiobook (library). An absolutely superb book! And to think I never would have picked this one up in book form - thank goodness for road trips! I haven't read Black Beauty but I have read Gentlemen and Players ... from bib) was a really good Da Vinci Code type globe-crossing, puzzle-solving mystery that I really enjoyed.
Also, Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris (recommended to me by Ron) was a very good character mystery.

Reading this book was a pure pleasure. Loved it from the very first to page to the surprising end. ... if anyone's curious.) It was a very fun read!
Next up is Gentlemen and Players which I just started. ... to use a few books in multiple places, I think I'll finish it out by the end of the year.
#52/53 - I'll probably start Gentlemen and Players tomorrow or Wednesday. I foolishly couldn't find it on several trips to my library because it was shelved in the Mystery section! I kept looking in G ... I've started Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris. What a captivating first chapter! #50: Hi el! Loved Gentlemen and Players and thought Nightmare Town, which I know as Red Harvest was one of Hammet's best.

Finished Coastliners which I quite liked and, after one false start, zapped through. Not her best though. Preferred Gentlemen and Players.

Also finished The Slap, which just won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. Had to like it - it was set close to where I live and the characters ... ... so much; because of your enthusiasm it's coming off my shelf very soon. The only Joanne Harris I've read is Gentlemen and Players, which I liked a lot.

Imaginations by William Carlos Williams I haven't read Gentlemen and Players, but I have read The Toll Gate. I haven't read Ptolemy's Gate But I have read Gentlemen and Players (Which depicts a gate on its front cover) ... challenge for this year...I just caught up with it and I would like to recommend you a book by Joanne Harris, it's called Gentlemen and Players and it's brilliant, I read it and it's wonderful, and very original. And this book will fit into categories 5 and 7. I don't think anyone at HE has ... ... but I would have to admit that I hope this diversion into fantasy does not mean the end of books such as Chocolat and Gentlemen and Players.

Brought home Black Girl/White Girl by Joyce Carol Oates and Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris. Fun idea! I've never really thought about why I pick books up.

So, last night I started Joanne Harris' Gentlemen and Players. While I'm not sure I'm enjoying this one quite as much as the last, at least it's holding my attention -- which has been difficult lately.
