Edwards' half (the latter part) examines the philosophical and theological ramifications of creation and being created to worship. It takes a little bit of patience to read Edwards, but he is well worth the read. His insights are timeless and strengthened by his understanding of scripture. Piper's half is informative and a great summary. I would recommend reading Edwards' half first, then read Piper's response. Piper does give some biographical backgrounds, but it is not entirely needed to understand Edwards' treatise. the second half - the part by Jonathan Edwards was _very_ hard for me - not natively English speaking. But I wrestled through some pages and it was worth all the effort - but it took me about half an hour per page! :-) (
