This is a selection along with Camus’ “Caligula” for our next Dipso book club. This was a favorite play of Luigi Giussani, founder of Communion and Liberation, the lay Catholic group I belong to. It is certainly a Catholic play and a play about Love, true Christian love: “Holiness doesn’t come from being stoned by Turks or kissing a leper on his mouth, but by keeping the commandment of God whether it means staying in our own place or mounting higher.” It is a beautiful play but I am not sure it would be of interest to most.
