Do The Culture novels count as a series?
Oh, and Brin's Uplift series, well the first few anyway. ... Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting by Michael Perry on my reading plate. I must try to forget that I have Iain Pears and Stone's Fall waiting impatiently. Hi Karen et al
Stone's Fall by Iain Pears is a current ARC that's very long but also quite wonderful.
Among my favorite LT ARCs were The Piano Teacher by Janice Y. K. Lee and The Story of Forgetting by Stefan Merrill Block
Stinker: I was repulsed by Theorin Johan's Echo ... I'm still working on The Little Book and then The Elegance of the Hedgehog and then a reward -- Stone's Fall by Iain Pears. I liked Stone's Fall by Iain Pears a lot -- maybe not five star but I'm a pretty tough grader. Definitely an absorbing read and my best ARC so far, at least in fiction. The Lost City of Z by David Grann was excellent on the nonfiction side. ... by Colson Whitehead
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See
Stone's Fall by Iain Pears
Just as an aside. I HATE that we can't add or correct touchstones. I get so many pre-release and ARC's and half the time the touchstones ... It felt like Christmas!
Shanghai Girls
Outcasts United
Jeff in Venice Death in Varanasi
Stone's Fall
The Lace Makers of Glenmara
The Cradle cold request
The Physick book of Deliverance Dane
This week the man in brown brought me Stone's Fall by Iain Pears and Shanghai Girls by Lisa See! Very happy :) ... of a stylist, but he's good on ideas and atmosphere.
I loved Ken MacLeods first three novels - The Star Fraction, The Stone Canal and The Cassini Division - but nothing of his has yet to match them.
I've enjoyed Ian McDonald's stuff, although I've not read as much of it as I ...
