I have read Jeffrey Sach's Common Wealth and Lester Brown's Plan B 3.0 and they should be on the required reading list. Brown's book, in particular, describes the changes that are urgently needed to make a fundamental transition to ... Plan B 3.0 was pretty good -- I should start a thread on that one. It talks about what should be done to move to a sustainable world, makes a pretty good case that it's technically doable and not that expensive, and explains why it's urgent.

I also read Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization. Really, this was more like a reference than something to read cover to cover. Lots of good information, but not much flow.
