This charming little book uses objects from the British Museum to illustrate the theme of Christ, divided into sections: Life, Beliefs, Church, Discipleship, and Heaven, though it's not always obvious why an object illustrates one section rather than another. The objects chosen come from a wide range of cultures and periods, not just Europe and its offshoots as one might expect; there are also objects from Benin and Japan for example. All in all, well recommended as a lovely reminder of Christianity's rich artistic heritage. ( )

This beautiful book traces the key events of Christ's life to reveal the Christian perspective on the central themes of temptation, prayer, healing, faith, suffering and redemption.
