Excellent little book.

The first half is the actual essay by Fr. Louf. The second half is a collection of deeply meaningful and insightful quotes, homilies, and other writings from the desert fathers and mothers, early church fathers, and saints.

Fr. Louf's assertion is that the virtue/idea/concept of Christian humility cannot be understood through reason alone. It must be experienced through faith, hope, and most importantly grace in Jesus Christ.

As the title suggest, it is not so much an essay on what humility is (although it does cover this), but on the way one journeys toward humility. It is not an easy path, but is most necessary for a deeper relationship with God.

Highly recommended book if one is serious about seeking humility and a deeper relationship with God. ( )
