John C. Morrison has written a fine collection of reminiscences and wonderment, poetic musings about his life and passions. Whether he reflects on his past as a day laborer and youthful romances, or early fatherhood and watching his parents grow old, Morrison always finds the magical in the ordinary, the thoughtfulness in seemingly unimportant moments. These poems flow like sweet water on a warm day, reminding us of childhood and family and the wonders that sustain us. Always attentive to the nature around him and to the people that make our lives worth living, he invites us to look at our own lives in calm reflection. These are poems of grace, beauty, and thankfulness. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0977197379, Paperback)

With clarity and grace John Morrison's HEAVEN OF THE MOMENT brings together the timeless and the particular. Relying on memory, humility, and a trust in the power of precise language, Morrison conjures and explores those moments that define and give meaning to a life. Among those moments, that seem to pass so quickly, in which everything happens and much is lost and found, moments of insight and decision, moments that shape the bonds of love and friendship, Morrison, in these evocative poems, gives us a measure of what matters.
