El nombre del escrito Maurice Blanchot (1907) representa hoy una especie de información secreta que circula entre iniciados. Habiendo comenzado a escribir en los años del existencialismo y la fenomenología, antes de la segunda guerra mundial, ha mantenido una posición innovadora y marginal. Desde hace tiempo reconocido por los grandes del pensamiento francés (Levinas, Deleuze, Derrida, Foucault), marca un ligar en que todos ellos confluyen. El paso (no) más allá (1973), una de las obras teóricas más importantes de Blanchot, es a la vez obra de ficción e inaugura una acepción de la filosofía como escritura. La escritura es, en efecto, el gran tema de Blanchot, inseparable de una reflexión especulativa sobre la muerte, pero también consciente de la disolución histórica en que se halla actualmente la alta cultura humanista.
