Subtitled 'Mary, paradigm of the religious life,' this paperback book by the late French Dominican priest, Thomas Philippe, O.P., is a short gem of Roman Catholic Christian Marian devotional literature. Father Philippe taught philosophy and theology at Saulchoir in Belgium and France and at the Angelicum in Rome.

This book has a very powerful cover design by Rebecca J. Heaston which takes its inspiration from a stained glass window in Saint Anthony's Church, South Bend, Indiana. The work of the artist Anthony Panzicka, this window is devoted to the Mystical Rose, one of the many names for the Holy Mother of God. It also has an icon in black ink on white entitled "Unfading Rose" found on page 18 which is the work of Sharon Gill.

There is a Preface by Edward D. O 'Connor, C. S. C., who taught theology at Notre Dame University from 1952 to 1993 and who also served as the book's editor in this English language edition printed in the United States of America and published by Our Sunday Visitor Publishing Division, Huntington, Indiana.
