I wish Mrs. Skorupski was my school librarian! I loved the journey in this book and celebrating the different ways we can read. Patty's and Carmen's personal challenge made me uncomfortable and seemed to undermine the joyful goal of the story. Overall, I would recommend the story as I think it shows kids (and their parents) different approaches to reading (audio books, reading with youngers, etc.).

Pros: Bright colors add to this culturally diverse celebration of reading.

Absolutely love anything from Toni Buzzeo. As a school teacher librarian and media specialist she is very aware of what we need to get students "fired up" about reading! I enjoy sharing her books with my students and using them to teach library skills. Her books help me instill a love of reading ( )

The race is on as Patty Lee devours books, read-alouds, and audiobooks. But with Carmen in the lead, Patty Lee turns to Mrs. Skorupski for a new plan that just might put her at the top. In this second Mrs. Skorupski story the quirky, heavily-accessorized school librarian inspires students to expand their reading experiences, cheering them on with her signature "Okily dokily." Join the excitement as everyone gets fired up with reading!… (more)
