This is a beautiful and very moving book. It offers a glimpse into the lives of children all around the world. There is an uncomfortable difference between the lives of many of the children. This book was a wonderful way to give a range of children their own personal voice and opportunity to be heard. Children are the most important thing that we have on this earth, and this book honours children and makes sure that their voices and needs are expressed.

The book follows New Zealand John Bougen on a extremely quick trip around the world. He photographed the first child he met in each country that he visited (starting in New Zealand), and asked them what their dream was. Each page in this book has a picture of a different child with the answer that they gave him.

I remember liking this book so much when I first read it that I am going back now to buy it. I think it would be a good coffee table book. I highly recommend you read it if you get a chance. John Bougon has now done another similar book (also called 'My Dream') but only interviews New Zealand children. It looks very good as well, but personally I am much more interested in a snapshot of children all over the world. I don't think we should forget how much we have in countries like New Zealand. ( )
