The more I read of Kirkman's run on Ultimate X-Men, the more I wonder why anyone thought that he'd be a good fit for this title. He's a great author, don't get me wrong, but this is just not his typical style, and it shows.

The plot is unnecessary, and I honestly can't remember much about it, even though I just read the book last night. Basically, now that the "official" X-Men are disbanded, Bishop is going around trying to recruit mutants to form his "new" X-Men team. And some people who were previously believed to be dead, in true comic book form, just pop up alive without much explanation. Yawn.

The art isn't consistent, either; about four or five different pencilers worked on these issues, and so it can be a very jarring experience in trade format. ( )
