While I may not understand a word of Spanish other than "adios" I thought this version of Sleeping Beauty was great. It was a short and simple retelling with adorable illustrations with interesting color choices that emphasized shading. I think the language used would be great for storytelling. It's succinct and expressive. ( )

Aurora was cursed by a witch to sleep forever when she pricks her finger on a spindle. The king, fearful of this happening, commands the palace to burn all spindles. When Aurora finds a spindle and pricks her finger, causing her to sleep for 100 years. A good witch comes and casts a spell on everyone in the palace to sleep and never age, so that Aurora is not left alone when she wakes. A prince sees the castle 100 years later and gives Aurora a kiss which breaks the spell. ( )

I loved this book. This isn't a fairy tale you see told everyday. It was some always one you heard about and maybe seen the movie but to read the story was awesome. The book was also in two languages. That is uncommon. I would recommend the book to everyone especially if they know how to read Spanish. ( )

This book is a great way to address diversity in the class room. This book is written in both Spanish and English, which is really cool. Different interpretations are always interesting. ( )

This book follows a similar story to the sleeping beauty most kids know. I dont think children will like this book because it just goes on and on. I did not enjoy the book and do not think this would keep students interested in reading or make want to pay attention. ( )
