... just don't seem to appeal to me. I commend you on your review. I've read Testimony, Strange Fits of Passion and The Weight of Water and I've now decided not to bother with any more of her books.

Flossie, I'd be interested in your takes on Weight, Dream Angus, and Where Three Roads Meet, because while I enjoyed all of them to a degree, some were more fun and entertaining than others. I haven't found Girl Meets Boy yet, but generally, I've enjoyed this series--some of them are pretty ...

Oh yes The Tenderness of Wolves and The Weight of Water - I agree completely Bonnie! The Tenderness was a strange book and I can understand how some put it down - I think that hearing an episode or two whetted my appetite and kept me going when I thought I might stop.

I also enjoyed The Weight of Water. Shreve managed to protray such melancholy, I couldn't help but be affected by it. (I quite liked the movie too)

I've read other Anita Shreve books, but I put The Weight of Water down. It didn't grab me right away, and even for her it was depressing. Have you read any of her other books? I liked Wedding in December and The Pilot's Wife and just got Testimony this past Christmas, although I have ...

The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve. I very much enjoyed the story about the 19th century Norwegians living isolated and lonely lives. The desolate imagery of the islands was very good. Like some others who have read this I found it harder to relate to the modern day people on the boat. Apart ...

richard, I did have to give up on The Weight of Water and I've put it aside for another day in the year 2015 when perhaps I will have gained the necessary maturity or boredom to read it again ... who knows, maybe i'll like it better then since I may be somewhat senile by then too.
