Book description
From book's introduction (pp.7):

When we first called for citations to include in this bibliography, we envisioned listing everything that had ever been written about exhibitions. Over the following three years, we received listings for thousands of publications. We compiled them into one monster list, and ended up with a document that was four times larger than the one you hold in your hands.

After looking at hundreds of pages, a colleague reminded me of the long bibliographies that have been published only to sit on dusty shelves. Because our goal was to develop a reference that people would actually use, we decided to make it much shorter, and focus on works published after 1980. (You will not find any old classics unless they were reviewed and recommended by one of our contributors.)

The literature on exhibitions covers a wide variety of subjects, so to help you find what you're looking for, we organized the listings into broad categories. You might want to peruse several categories to locate the publication that best suits your needs. Recommendations and anecdotes from professionals across the country are included as additional guides.
