This book is a quick read and worth the effort. The author, Duff Cooper, creates a convincing argument that Shakespeare must have served as a young man in the military during the war and eventual defeat of Spain. He uses the works of Shakespeare with its many military references and a few other outside documents to support his hypothesis. You will come away thinking that it is not only possible but just as probable the lost years of young Shakespeare were years spent in service to his country. Sherry Hampton 2017 ( )
