... and based on what I've read so far, I believe that I'll end up being impressed. I wouldn't bother with either Wells' Barbarians to Angels or Ward-Perkins' The Fall of Rome and the End of Civilization. IMO those two are at opposite very distant extremes and neither is particularly useful. ...

... binfo.php?page=10015 It's for the fieldwork section of the Archaeological Institute of America. Also, there's the book Barbarians To Angels by Peter Wells. I don't know if it's too basic, but the part of it that I read was interesting. It might be worth the read.
