Bullen has done us a great service in this book. Wesley claimed to be a man of one book and Bullen seeks to know what this really means. In his search he finds that Wesley, like anyone else, is a man of his time and must of necessity bring his experiences to bear as he reads the scriptures. Wesley is high church Anglican, who uses reason, experience and the Christian tradition in exploring the Bible. Like all of us, try as we may, we still are not a blank b efore reading the scriptures. Bullen shows us the background of Wesley's reading the scriptures beginning with his parents. Good job.
