'School' is a tale of the Russian Civil War of 1917, experienced by a 14 year old boy, Boris, the narrator of the book. Boris abandoned his school for joining the Red Army, the resistance formed by the proletariat people for establishing a true socialism. This book is mostly a description of the comradeship between the soldiers in the battlefields, who had no training, no chain of command, who just kept fighting for their freedom but, nevertheless, it also shows the problems erected in an unorganized post czar Russian society. A spontaneous and vivid narration, making it a great book, especially for the children. A recommended one I'd say. ( )
