I read a lot of vampire fiction. In recent years, vampires have become the darling of paranormal romance so it's almost a shock to read about immoral bloodsuckers that delight in blood and killing. "February Mine" is part of a series of novellas, one for each month. Each stands alone. It was somewhat unsettling to read this dark, violent tale celebrating Valentine's Day - but well worth it.

Erik has been tracking the vampire hunter Travis for months. Erik finally locates him in a BDSM club with a submissive on a leash. That sub happens to be a vampire, and Erik wants him. So, he convinces Travis that a night with the three of them is worth his while. But, Travis'll get way more than he bargained for.

This story is not for the faint of heart, or those looking for a light BDSM love story. This one takes "blood play" to it's highest level - the vampire. Travis isn't a traditional dom - he has been cruelly capturing and forcing vampires to become his subs through drugs. He rapes and tortures them. But, when they turn the tables, his blood will flow.

Though this story was a trifle disturbing with the visceral imagery, the underlying romance (with a bite!) was surprisingly satisfying. Immoral vampires can be helplessly devoted - to each other. The sex is heightened by the hardcore BDSM, but those squeamish about blood or hardcore bondage should avoid this. To everyone else, I highly reocmmend it. ( )

Joel and Erick and Travis...this is not my favorite. A little bloodier than I enjoy, and a little too much torture. The broken bones....yuck! Although I would have enjoyed reading about Joel and Erick slowly and painfully killing Travis! ( )

If you want a very erotic vampire gay romance, Mine by Jamie Craig will suit your taste. But mind you, you have not to be easily impressed from fresh blood and hard pleasure/pain games cause here you will find plenty of them.

Erik is an old and strong vampire who is hunting a man, Travis. Six months before Travis has kidnapped his mate, Joel, and now he is holding him like pet. But Joel is not a consensual pet in a Master/Pet contract, he is drugged and unable to fight against Travis. And so Erik is planning to seduce Travis, rescue Joel and kill Travis soon after. But during is plan, could happen that he, maybe, is a little fascinated by Travis, and by his clearly desire to be mastered.

This could be a short story, less than 60 pages, but it's well developed and very enthralling. My friends know that I'm not fond of pleasure/pain game, but this one is really alluring. Even if Travis is since the beginning the bad boy, slowly I began to feel for him and to cheer for Erik to not kill him. And even if Joel in the first part of the tale is not a main character, he takes the scene in the second and last part. Travis instead is for all the tale the real Master, and he plays very good his role: usually in a romance, the captive never suffers before his savior manages to free him, but here poor Joel has to pass throught some not really enjoyable experience... unless you are not into the scene, and so maybe, it's what you'd like!
