:D I just put down Paris to the Moon. I tried to get past page 10 and couldn't. I feel worse about putting books down than I used to, but still will not force myself to read something that doesn't hold my interest at any level. ... I tried to read Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnik but the first 10 pages were such a turnoff that even though it's for April's bookclub meeeting I'll just go for the food and wine and ... ... by Leland Gregory. It was fluff, but enjoyable fluff.
What I'm really doing is putting off reading Paris to the Moon, my RL bookclub book for our April meeting. I haven't opened it yet and just can't seem to get the energy up for it.

I snuck in the 2nd Dresden Files book Fool Moon but now I'm in a fuzzle - Paris to the Moon doesn't thrill me, and have picked up The Lost Diary of Don Juan by Douglas Carlton Abrams. ... It is Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. The book that the play and the movies were based on.

One of my favorite books that I've read so far this month is Paris To the Moon by Adam Gopnik. As a bit of a Francophile, my want went off in my head as soon as I saw it in the store quite some time ago.

The Emperor ... The translation I read way back when is the Frank Davison one. I have recently read Gopnik's Paris to the Moon which was enjoyable, but cannot speak of him as a translator. Agreed on Paris to the Moon. A great book!!!! ... several footnotes on the wrong page) - but it bugs me because it shouldn't happen at all.
Thanks for the mention of Paris to the Moon too; I'll have to look out for it. I'll definitely put Le Dossier on my list, having really, really enjoyed Paris to the Moon this year (one of my few really 5-star books of 2008) which contains a lot about culture clash with the French.
