Finished Thursbitch and started The Pagoda Finished The Devil and Miss Prym and started Thursbitch Just ordered Thursbitch #24 keren7 - I agree - Thursbitch is fascinating - I re-read very few books but will probably read that one again because I think I'll get even more out of it second time around, especially because I lived near that area in England when I was a kid.
The Mathematics of Love is another of my ... Finished Thursbitch and have embarked on a similarly short one, The Old Man and the Sea. I'm all about artificial number inflation this month! ... other day, The Garden Party, to jumpstart my 1001 reading again. Finished after the quake today, and I just started Thursbitch, though that one is quite a slow read (despite only being 150 pages or so). ... of the usual huge pile of books I want to read, I'm going to start the month (tomorrow) by knocking of Alan Garner's Thursbitch. Finished Thursbitch which was different but a quick read. I think I might take a break from 1001 and read The Road next. ... Story of the Eye. Probably wasn't a good idea to do that back to back with To Kill a Mockingbird.
Now I'm starting Thursbitch. I have been putting that one off for so long it has a certain mystique for me. I just hope it's not as disturbing as Story of the Eye. Finished To Kill a Mockingbird as well. (First time read for me though.) I had intended to start Thursbitch but I am continuing my two year pattern of bumping it for another book and will start The Story of the Eye instead. The dialect and chapters switch between 17th and 20-21st century dialect and the 17th centry dialect is hard to understand - but the twentieth centry dialect is good.
