Your reviewA masterpiece of emotional torment in the form of a long letter written to Alfred Douglas. Wilde was in prison as a result of losing a libel suit against Douglas's father, the Marquis of Queensbury, who famously accused Wilde of "posing as a somdomite." Wilde lost his fame and fortune in prison, and did not live long after his release. "De Profundis" (From the Depths) is a cry of raw anguish, as deeply felt as Strindberg's "Occult Diary".
