William James gave the Gifford Lectures in Natural Theology in Edinburgh in 1901 - 1902. Charles Taylor was in Edinburgh to deliver the same Gifford Lectures in 1999. This book presents his thoughts on James and Varieties of Religious Experience.

A very brief book (116 pages) but slow reading. Taylor provides an update on James.
