This fantasy book is about two characters named Jack and Annie. Jack and Annie go on an adventure in the summer solace. They found a note in the magic tree house, the note told them to retrieve the sword before sun goes down. Therefore, they go on the journey make new friends and get the sword of light. After retrieving the sword they encounter a Giant Serpent where they are requested to answer a question. They finally make it home with the sword just before sun set.

I have always liked the Magic Tree House books. These books are great for children and very easy to understand. I also liked these books as they always had an underlying lesson. Like in this book the lesson is to not judge something by its cover.

1. I would use this when teaching students to not judge something by its cover. The two characters encounter many scary things, but when they got to know them they were very nice.
2. As you know I love art, so I would have the students create their own sword by either painting, drawing, modeling (play dough) , or find something in a magazine that reminds them of a sword. ( )
