The stately calm of a Washington morning is shattered when a group of terrorists descends, killing dozens and taking nearly one hundred hostages as they try to infiltrate the White House. The Secret Service immediately evacuates the president to an underground bunkerâ??and while officials argue over how best to negotiate with the enemy, Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top counterterrorism operative, moves stealthily among the hidden corridors and secret passageways of the nation's capital to save the hostages before the terrorists reach the president. This might have been a really good book if I actually heard the whole thing. Some things didn't make sense and I realized at the end that I accidentally listened to The Abridged version. Unfortunately the audible book through the library system was The Abridged version and the full-length version was not available. I wonder how often they're doing this with other popular books. The unabridged version is a four-star book ( )

This really dragged, and there were a lot of aspects that rubbed me the wrong way (maybe that's because this book was published over 20 years ago) but I ultimately did enjoy learning more about Mitch Rapp. ( )

I always enjoy a Mitch Rapp adventure and this one was as good as expected.
Flynn is not the best writer but he comes up with great stories that always have neat twists.
Looking forward to more of Mr. Kruse ;-)
