Marine architect Hannah Bryson is on top of her game when she's contracted to inspect the Soviet submarine, Silent Thunder, which has recently been acquired by a U.S. maritime museum. Her task is to ready the nuclear attack sub for public exhibition. Hannah's brother and frequent partner, joins her to complete the project. It's a simple stop-gap job meant to fill a couple of weeks before she moves on to something else. Simple. Until it goes horribly wrong when Silent Thunder and all souls aboard suffer a deadly attack. Determined to discover the identity and deal with whoever is responsible, Hannah finds herself straddling a fine line between Russian connections and the CIA, wondering who she can trust. This is the first book of Iris Johansen's that I read that she wrote with her son, Roy. If the Eve Duncan character was anything like these characters I would be reading them all! These characters were fun, and I didn't mind Hannah's superhuman photographic memory (though Idon't believe I have ever met anyone with that ability). I stayed glues to this book until the very last page. That's about the best compliment a reader can offer an author. I made the mistake of reading this book after it's sequel. I enjoy Iris Johansen books but i think I prefer her writing solo rather than with her son. Marine architect Hannah Bryson is giving a fine tooth check up of a decommissioned Russian nuclear sub, when her brother, Connor, is killed on the sub and her escapades with the mysterious Kirov begin. She is on a quest to take down the person responsible for her brothers death and to solve the mystery of the panel they found on the sub. no reviews | add a review
