This story is about a little boy named Brandon who looks to be in about the 2nd or 3rd grade. The story is based on a day in his life when he wakes up with the "feeling" that he is going to have a bad day and then everything begins to go wrong for him. The day started with the tooth paste shooting out of the tube making a mess all over his face and pajamas, then he could not find his lucky shirt to wear for his spelling bee, and he steps in gum all before getting on the bus to go to school. The conflict in the story is with Brandon himself. As the day goes on, his attitude changes into a more positive one and things begin to look better. This bad day turns into a really good day.

I purchased this book specifically for my daughter who does not like to wake up early for school no matter how long she has slept. Mornings for her were very difficult and any little mishap would ruin her day. Although she still has some tough mornings, she knows that she has the power to change the outcome of the day by simply choosing to make it a good day.

For a classroom extension, I would have the students write journal entries describing a day that started out really bad then turned out really good. Another idea would be to have the students write about what Brandon could have done to turn his bad day into a good day. ( )
